Hodgkinson achieved her personal best of one minute 54.61 seconds last year in the British capital.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her 800m season with a triumph at the all-female Athlos meet in NYC on Friday night.

{The reigning Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the global championships recently, excelled in an impressive win in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season affected by a hamstring injury.

Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Hunter Bell finished second again in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) secured third place.

"I've barely raced this year so it was likely easier for me to go out there and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.

"The environment out there is crazy so it was really, really fun."

The women-only meet packed the stadium in its second edition, introducing a party atmosphere to traditional track, with live music and special crowns replacing traditional winners' medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is wed to Athlos founder Alexis Ohanian, was present to present the winners with their crowns.

Previous champions received sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in track and field.

The competition also drew several top athletes, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and global record breaker Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, finishing in 4:17.78.

American Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the 100m and 200m double.
