In “It’s a Deal”, a look back discloses that popular character Alastor the Radio Demon was a mass murderer in his human life. Knowing full well he was destined for Hell, he established communication with the realm beyond beforehand to secure a strong position in Hell. Rosie, the charismatic leader Hell’s cannibal community, vowed Alastor he would become “the most powerful Condemned Soul in Hell” in exchange for his soul.

This raises an important query: In what way is this character powerful enough to raise Alastor above all other Demonic Sinners?

“The Rosie and Alastor deal is the initial building block in a much bigger story that encompasses a great deal, leading into the third season,” the showrunner states. “Obviously that is a perfect question: How is she so strong? The answer could be many things, but the revelation is in season 3. I'm very excited for fans to see it.”

It is uncertain how long the audience will have to wait for Hazbin Hotel’s next season. The studios have approved the third and fourth seasons, but the creator frequently notes that animated production is a time-consuming endeavor, and later seasons have no release dates yet. Still, she states holding off on specific information is a crucial aspect of maintaining the second season's focus in the right places.

“The challenge of any agreement with infernal beings, or narratives that have mysteries, is giving the audience just enough information to be like, Something's up here, and then unveiling that gradually, and allowing that be satisfying,” she says. “So I am quite eager.”

Mysteries Resolved in The Next Season

The showrunner promises that the upcoming season will address the questions followers have been posing, like why Rosie commanded Alastor to vanish for seven years, which diminished his influence in the infernal realm.

“The whole seven years, and the pacts these individuals are doing, and everything — it's feeding into a larger story,” she reveals.

Meanwhile, the Rosie/Alastor backstory episode provides another glimpse into what the core cast of Sinner Demons appeared as as humans, following after seeing Sir Pentious’ Victorian-era human form in the second episode. The creator explains that significant consideration was put into these character designs.

“The human versions of these personas carry great significance,” she notes. “They vary from appearing quite distinct from their infernal version to looking almost identical. With the first character, the initial design we see, there was some internal discussion within the team between choosing something that symbolizes the character, as opposed to going with something that's very time-period accurate. We leaned toward making something that just felt like it was him.”

She mentions the primary controversy over Pentious’ human design was his long hair: “We were like, ‘Nobody typically had extended hair like that in Victorian-era London.’ But simultaneously, we think the outline is extremely crucial, and we also just felt he appeared attractive. We were like, ‘This just feels right.’ We kind of provided the rationale that he lived in seclusion, so he just allowed his hair to lengthen. So there is always a solution. As we create the mortal forms of these characters […] it is a very enjoyable process to explore and figure out. I am looking forward for fans to view additional of the appearances of the human versions.”
